You’ve been told to calm down your whole life.
What if your anger isn’t the problem?
You're exhausted from holding it together until one tiny thing pushes you over the edge. The shame is heavy, and the cycle keeps repeating.
The truth is, your rage isn’t the enemy, it’s the invitation. And it has a story to tell. Together, we’ll get curious instead of critical, uncover what’s fueling the fire, and learn what your anger has been trying to illuminate.
Meet Jen Gallagher
I work with women in midlife who have it all together on the outside, but are carrying a deep-simmering rage on the inside — that’s getting harder and harder to ignore.
I know this territory firsthand. Like so many women, I understood at an early age that expressing anger was not acceptable. I came to judge having a temper as something to be avoided, something to be ashamed of, something to evolve past. So, I focused being nice. Grateful. Positive. Anything but angry.
Then, autoimmune disease grabbed hold of me in my late forties, and I started questioning everything. Healing physically meant facing what I'd been avoiding emotionally. The most difficult emotion for me to face? Rage.
Midlife has a way of calling in old debts, bringing with it raw truth that insists on being heard. I’ve come to learn that of everything that rises, rage is the most honest and the most precise. It knows exactly where the line was crossed. Exactly which boundary was violated, which need was ignored, which version of yourself was silenced, and when. It has receipts, organized and annotated, kept for years.
That precision is information. It's a map of everywhere you've been asked to make yourself smaller, and therefore a map of everywhere you have room to expand.
No other emotion gives you that. And together, we'll follow its truth. Not to re-litigate the past, but to build a second half of life that's authentically and vibrantly yours.
the truth about rage:
Rage isn’t a flaw. It’s a signal.
Rage isn't a character defect or a failure of self-control. It's a built-in survival system that alerts you when something important has been violated—a boundary, a need, or a truth. You weren't born without it. You were taught not to trust it.
You can’t build over buried rage.
You can't create a fulfilling second half of life on top of emotions you've spent decades suppressing. Unexamined rage doesn't disappear—it shows up in your body, your relationships, and your ability to experience joy. The way forward isn't around it. It's through it.
Rage is the doorway, not the destination.
When you stop fearing your rage and start listening to it, something shifts. On the other side isn't more anger—it's clarity. Direction. Self-trust. The freedom to build a life that's true to who you are now.
Therapy with me is…
…rooted in authenticity and intention, where humor sits beside heartache, where your rage isn’t a weakness, it’s a messenger.
As a feminist therapist, I’m guided by progressive values and a collaborative approach. That only works with real attention, which is why I keep a small caseload. You'll never feel like a number here.
This isn't small talk. It's the work that changes your life.
